I'm Full of Bright Ideas!

Happy Memorial Day everyone! I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  We have lovely weather here in Northeast Ohio, and I'm definitely going to take advantage of it.  My mom was sweet enough to accompany me on a 6 mile walk yesterday morning, and it was fantastic.  Usually, when I walk with someone, they have to walk to my slower pace or I'm constantly training to catch up to them.  In this case, my mom was trying to keep up with me.  She said that she hasn't run after me like that since I was a little kid running in the grocery and department stores.  We both laughed at that.  It really made me feel good.  So, why did I decide to walk 6 miles yesterday?  Well, I wanted to see how my body felt and I wanted to do it under two hours...which I did.  I finished in 57 minutes.  I also chose that distance because I was inspired by some of my friends/co-workers.  The  Cleveland Marathon  was a week ago today, and my ...

I'm Back!!

Hi Readers!  Did you miss me?  It's nice to be back home and sleeping in my own bed.  I tell you...although my accommodations in Charleston, SC, were absolutely amazing, there is nothing like returning to your own bed for a restful night of sleep. I had a good vacation.  I did some shopping...actually, I did a a lot of shopping.  I did some eating... AND...I walked.  A LOT!  If you ever get a chance to go to Charleston, I highly recommend it.  It's the perfect city to see on foot.  I went to college there so I'm very familiar with the city.  It was great to be back.  Charleston was very good to me when I was in college.  I love that city! I was really excited to get on the road and arrive at Wild Dunes .  We stayed in a private residence condo.  It was lovely and spacious.  Just a hop from the beach.  I'm not a beach person so I really only went out there once to take a few photos.  I was ...

Murphy's Law...it BLOWS!

Every heard of Murphy's Law?  I'm sure most of you have, and for those of you that haven't, Wikipedia explains Murphy's Law as "an adage or epigram that is typically stated as: 'Anything that can go wrong will go wrong'."  My dad always talks about Murphy's Law.  He reminds me to have a Plan B just in case what you have planned doesn't work out. He's a very smart man. Well, why am I talking about Murphy's Law?  I swear once D.T. heard that I was working to get under 300 pounds before my vacation, he called up his cousin Murphy, and they both did a number on my ass!  It's totally bizarre...but true.  And, I feel it's a complete mental mind fuck.  Although I give my mental detractor a name (D.T and now he has a side-kick Murphy), I know that I only have the control to kick them out and move on. So, why did D.T. and Murhpy show up?  I really think I opened a can of worms by taking a day off last Saturday (hence the moodie pi...

I Must Be Krazy??

I love hitting those high notes ;) Good Saturday Blog Readers!  I felt like a woman possessed this week.  I don't know what was going on with me, but I definitely feel like I got my groove back.  I had another fantastic treadmill session on Wednesday leading to my all time best 3.55 miles in one hour.  I am running short intervals at 4.0 mph and I'm walking at 3.4 mph.  When I think back to when I started...I walked at 2.7 or 2.8 and I ran at 3.3.  Now, I'm walking at where I used to run.  That's quite a change. I definitely had a productive week.  I'm heading into vacation mode at work - which means I'm working like a maniac just to make sure everything is in order before I leave.  The last thing I want to be thinking about is work while I'm on vacation.  Perhaps all of that intensity is flowing into my workouts.  I definitely look forward them because it lets me step away from my cubicle and blow of some steam. An...

Better A Day (Or Two) Late...

Happy Earth Day! Happy Monday Blog Readers!  And Happy Belated Earth Day to you as well.  I must apologize for my tardiness.  Although I did weigh in and update on Saturday, I didn't post an entry, and I had several people mention that to me today.  I must say I'm happy that many of you look forward to my updates, but  I promise I wasn't looking for extra attention...basically...I was just lazy. I was also having hard time trying to think of what to write about.  It was a pretty good week.  Doubting Thomas didn't mess with me too much this week, and things seem to be settling down.  I also have vacation coming up in about two weeks. I'm going to spend a week in Charleston, SC with my cousin.  It will be a nice time.  I haven't spent a good deal of time in Charleston since I graduated from college several years ago, so this will be a great trip...especially since I'll be able to see some of my great sorority sisters, and we'll be s...

My Body Playin' Tricks On Me!

Wow!  As you can tell by my moodie and the title of this post, I had one hell of a week.  It's been a tough few weeks lately, and I am definitely proud about how I've handled the curve balls that flew at my head.  Actually, I had some fast balls the nailed me right in the face.  And they were all thrown by D.T. who hasn't let up on me at all.  He keeps telling me to stop, and I keep P.U.S.Hing on.  I give him the boot, and he gets a second wind and comes stomping back to discourage me. This week, Doubting Thomas tried another tactic. Instead of attacking my mind, he worked on by body.  He started on Sunday.  He knew I decided to take a very rare day off on Saturday so he saw a window of opportunity.  I swear he jumped on my back making my Zumba workout extra tough.  On Monday, he tripped me up on my interval training on the treadmill.  Asshole!  I was huffin' and puffin' trying to increase my distance to 3.4 miles and only ...

How Full Is My Glass??

Good day Blog Readers!  I'm happy to say that week 10 went a hell of a lot better than week 9.  Work is still very busy, but I like it that way.  It keeps me busy, and it makes the day past quickly.  This week resulted in my fastest 3K walk-run.  I'm made it up to 3.3 miles in 60 minutes so each week I'm going to push for a 0.1 mile increase in an hour.  So, by the end of next week I should be at 3.4 miles.  I was also able to run for 2 minutes straight.  I also feel that my running posture is getting better.  I'm paying attention to how I place my feet when I walk and run, making sure that I lead with my heel and keep my head elevated.  It really makes a difference and harbors less stress on the body.  So, have you noticed my moodies?  They are pretty good at visually describing how I've been feeling.  My mood for this week is very optimistic.  In fact, I'd say my glass is over ...
